“Creative class as a city-forming factor”
/ session
The UN estimates that the cultural and creative industries account for 3.1% of global GDP and 6.2% of global employment. Creative economy industries generate annual revenues of over 2 trillion dollars and create almost 50 million jobs worldwide. The creative economy is much more environmentally friendly than most other industries. Due to the fact that the value of its products is largely formed due to the creativity of its creators, cities and countries export much less physical resources, receiving income from the intellectual labor of its residents. But the most successful creative businesses, and most importantly people, get the opportunity to choose places to live and work anywhere in the world. One of the most significant factors becomes the quality of life, environment and opportunities that a city can give a person. Over the last decade Kyrgyzstan has paid special attention to the development of creative industries, but entering the global race for human capital we have to compete with different cities around the world. The panel will discuss how creative industries can influence the development of cities in Kyrgyzstan and how cities themselves contribute to the strengthening of creative industries in the country, what further steps are possible

“Green city: the role of park and public spaces in the city” / session
Greening of territories plays a great role in improving the ecological situation in the city. Plants absorb carbon dioxide from the air and produce oxygen, which is essential for the respiration of living beings. Plants ionize and purify the air and increase its humidity level. Greening in the city helps to create a healthy microclimate, thus providing optimal conditions for human habitation. In the era of urbanization, it is important for people to feel not detached from nature, which is facilitated by a high percentage of green spaces in the city.

“Zero Waste” or modern methods of waste management / roundtable discussion
As cities grow, so does waste - domestic and industrial. After the reform, the newly annexed territories to Bishkek also increase the load on the sanitation systems of the city, which should be taken into account in the waste management policy. The existing method of collection by truck and container is a necessity, but modern technologies and knowledge allow organizing in a more efficient way the whole process “from” and “to”. At the session we propose to create a communication platform between Ministries, municipal structures, experts and citizens on the issue of promoting the concept of “Zero Waste” and “Zero Disposal” to reduce the burden on the ecology of cities.

“Urban Mobility. How to make it sustainable?” / session
Moderator: Rada Valentina kyzy, Founder of Peshsom Urban Initiative
Throughout history, the predominant mode of transportation at any given time has had some influence on the shape, density, and character of cities. However, the personal automobile has had the most profound and multifaceted impact on the city. While it has provided its users with greater mobility, vehicular traffic has allowed urban activities to be dispersed, which in turn has increased the need for long-distance travel. With the decentralization of cities, the coverage areas for automobile travel also increased, resulting in the allocation of large land areas for highways and parking lots.

“Air pollution in cities” / session
Air pollution is the change in the composition of clean, natural air as a result of chemical or physical emissions from a variety of sources, the most common of which are motor vehicles, industrial plants, energy production and domestic activities. The health effects of such particles depend on their size and origin. The finer the particles, the deeper they can penetrate into the human body and the more damage they can cause. Bishkek has a difficult situation with air pollution, especially during the winter heating period: from October to March. In recent years, according to the Air Quality Index (AQI), Bishkek during the heating season tops the world rankings of cities with the most polluted air. Poor air quality leads to serious health consequences, including an increase in childhood asthma and respiratory-related morbidity.

“Measures to improve the environmental situation in cities” / session
With the increase in population and the development of technology, energy consumption has reached unprecedented levels. However, natural resources are limited and pollution continues to threaten ecosystems and human health. Under such conditions, efficient energy consumption and energy efficiency measures become a necessity to ensure sustainable development and preserve cities for future generations.
